Section 1A Baseball: Two Express pitchers combine to shut out the Lakers 10-0

 The Lakers bats that put up ten runs on Dundas on Wednesday night could not get anything going against Brady Bean (six shutout innings) and old friend Jake Petricka (three shutout innings). Elko pulled away with eight runs in the final four innings to win going away on Friday night.

It took till the fourth before there was any scoring. With 2 runners on base for the Express, a throwing error on an attempted sacrifice bunt by Kyle Kraska allowed both runners to score. 

Kraska was responsible for the next two runs. With one out in the sixth and runners on second and third, Kraska singled one run in and on a misplay in left field, another run was able to score to make it a 4-0 Elko lead. 

Elko added another pair in the seventh that Kraska was NOT responsible for. Trevor Rasmussen had an RBI triple followed by a Carson Blasing double to make it a six run game. 

The Express added on another pair in the ninth. ABlasing single drove in a run, T.J. Evanson followed with an RBI single. After an error extended the inning a Ross Bastyr two run single gave the Express a 10-0 lead.

1. Brady Bean/Jake Petricka- Elko. The two Elko pitchers combined for the shutout only allowing five Lakers hits, striking out nine.
 
2. Ross Bastyr-Elko. The ninth batter for the Express went 3-5 with three runs batted in.

3. T. J. Evanson-Elko. Evanson had three hits, scoring three runs, walking once.

Notes:
Faribault will take on Hastings at 2pm on Sunday in a rematch of their section playoff game from last August. I will not be able to cover the game, so check your socials for game results, or better yet, get on down to Bell Field and take in the game.

 Kevin Luckow (non member of IBWAA) It was the first visit to Bell Field for the Dundas Dukes in the modern era of Townball. The Lakers made it a memorable for the home town fans collecting 11 hits and 10 runs in a victory at Bell Field in Section One play on Wednesday night.  Dundas got on the board in the first as a Tate Journall lead off walk eventual scored on a fielder's choice. The Dukes added on in the second. Mike Ludwig surprised the entire ballpark by bunting, and reaching on a throwing error. Ludwig eventually scored on a fielding error with two outs.  In the Lakers half of the second, I saw something I've never seen in all my years of watching baseball. Due to two Lakers reaching on wild pitches on strike three, Dukes starter Landon Boisen struck out five batters in the inning. Faribault Lakers Baseball: New Market ends Lakers season 17-15

In a  season that we knew was going to be challenging with the Lakers going through a youth movement, then was made even more challenging as the Lakers were deemed to be a Class A team, the challenges kept mounting, right into the playoffs. Through it all the Lakers never outwardly complained and gave it their all, right till the end in a two run loss to Class A powerhouse New Market.  Faribault jumped out to a 2-0 lead on the strength of a Tucker Alstead 2nd inning run scoring double. Followed in the 3rd with an RBI groundnut by Aiden Tobin. The Muskies though hit paydirt in their half of the inning. An infield single and a bad hop single set the stage for an estimated 290 foot home run by Connor Weed to put the Muskies up 3-2. A Pick Three of errors with two outs and a Dylan O'Neil RBI single gave Faribault the lead back in the fourth, 4-3. DRS Baseball: Faribault outslugs New Prague 16-11

 The Orioles got on the board first, benefiting from two Lakers miscues. After a Beau Plaisance single to lead off the game, a late throw to second base on a sacrifice bunt and a dropped throw at second base on a force attempt loaded the bases. A Jake Mader infield single scored a run followed by a Hunter LeCuyer bloop single to right field that plated a pair.  In the bottom of the frame the Lakers got the runs back. Three of the first four batters walked before Jack Jandro launched a deep fly to center field that was dropped, allowing a run to score. Austin Rendler followed with an RBI single and Tucker Alstead wore one to tie the game and end the outing for Oriole starter Plaisance.
