Faribault Lakers Baseball

 After a scoreless first, the Aces got on the board. After two batters reached on walks, a comebacker to the mound was thrown just wide of second base glancing off of shortstop's Joe Grote's glove causing a run to score. A bases loaded walk scored another run before a Tegan Mellgren single scored a pair, to make it a four run inning.  The Lakers got back into the game in the fourth. Jack Jandro singled, stole second and scored on a Mason Conrad single. After Carter Quinlan singled, a sacrifice bunt attempt by Atley Qualey was airmailed allowing Conrad to score. With one out, Drew Conrad singled to get the Lakers back within a run. A wild  pitch allowed Qualey to score followed by a sacrifice fly by Riley Palmer to give the Lakers their first lead at 5-4.  Three hits to lead off the sixth inning got the Aces back in the lead. The Lakers couldn't have asked for a better start, with two runners on without a benefit of a hit, Austin Rendler blasted a three run shot to give the Lakers a first inning 3-0 lead. But the Braves struck back with vengeance in the top of the fourth with Keaton Roeker hitting a misplayed triple to score two runs. Three of the next four Braves would reach as they took a 4-3 lead. The Lakers knotted the game at four in the fourth inning. Drew Conrad tripled with one out and scored on an Aiden Tobin bunt single up the first base line.  Waseca took the lead back in the fifth. With the bases loaded and one out, Joey Grote made a great play to get a force out on a Chris Glynn groundout at second base, but a run scored to give the lead back to the Braves 5-4. But an eventful sixth inning saw the Lakers retake the lead. Grote led off with a double to deep left field. Two wild pitches plated Grote.  The Lakers got on the board first. Drew Conrad singled and scored from second on a deep fly ball off the bat of Joe Grote that was dropped for a two base error.  In the second, it was a manufactured run on the bases. Dominic Erickson reached on an error, advanced to second on a walk. Erickson was trapped between second and third, and made the read to go to third as the catcher threw to second. On the back end of a strikeout, the Lakers executed a double steal that scored Erickson. Conrad followed with a grounder that hit first base and bounced away, allowing Zander Fitzsimmons, who reached on a walk, to score to make it a 3-0 game.  Milroy got on the board in the fifth. With Tyler Maeyaert on second base after a passed ball, Maeyaert was picked off second but made a successful dash to third.  Faribault got on the board in the first inning. Aiden Tobin tripled to right center to lead off the Lakers first, scoring two batters later on a Joe Grote ground out.  Montgomery evened things up in the second however, with a Devin Whiteis two out single scoring Dawson Pint. The Mallards took the lead in the top of third. Ryan Iverson singled and scored when an Aaron Dwyer flyball was misplayed. Chris Johnson followed with a single to Dwyer. A throw to home cost the Lakers a run as Johnson advanced to second base and scored on a Dawson Pint single.  The Mallards added on to the lead in the fourth with two out hits from Pat Lloyd, a bad hop double, and Iverson drove in Lloyd to make it a 6-1 lead for the Mallards. In the fifth, it was a incredibly well placed fly ball that fell in short center field off of the bat of Kyle Hintz that plated two more runners with two outs.  The Lakers got a pair back in the sixth inning.
