DRS Baseball: Faribault walks off Lonsdale 10-9
After a scoreless first, the Aces got on the board. After two batters reached on walks, a comebacker to the mound was thrown just wide of second base glancing off of shortstop's Joe Grote's glove causing a run to score. A bases loaded walk scored another run before a Tegan Mellgren single scored a pair, to make it a four run inning.
The Lakers got back into the game in the fourth. Jack Jandro singled, stole second and scored on a Mason Conrad single. After Carter Quinlan singled, a sacrifice bunt attempt by Atley Qualey was airmailed allowing Conrad to score. With one out, Drew Conrad singled to get the Lakers back within a run. A wild pitch allowed Qualey to score followed by a sacrifice fly by Riley Palmer to give the Lakers their first lead at 5-4.
Three hits to lead off the sixth inning got the Aces back in the lead. With two runners in scoring position, Kellen Jirik singled to score two runs.
In the eighth a groundout by Ross Beumer scored a run, but the crushing play for a the Lakers was a throwing error on what would've been an ending groundout that scored two more runs for Lonsdale.
The Lakers got the runs back in their half of the eighth. With the bases loaded, Palmer singled two runs and Aiden Tobin singled to drive in another. After a pitching change, the bases were once again loaded, and Jack Jandro took a glancing pitch off the arm to knot the game at nine apiece.
The Lakers managed to walk it off in the last of the ninth. With the bases loaded with two outs, an error on an attempted force out at second base allowed pinch runner Dante Cannon to cross the plate with the game winning run.
Jamie's Deliverymen of the Game:
1.Riley Palmer- Faribault. Palmer went 1-2 with three walks and drove in three runs. His two out single in the eighth inning knotted the game at eight, and his walk in the ninth set the table for the winning run to score.
2. Drew Conrad- Faribault. Conrad fought control issues in the first three innings, but settled in to give the Lakers six innings for a team that is not deep in starting pitching at this point of the season. Conrad also went 3-5 at the plate with a walk and two runs scored.
3. Ethan Slifko- Lonsdale. The Aces starter looked great in his three inning outing, not allowing a run on two hits and striking out three Lakers.
