Faribault uses the luck of the Irish, defeats Milroy 13-3
The Lakers got on the board first. Drew Conrad singled and scored from second on a deep fly ball off the bat of Joe Grote that was dropped for a two base error.
In the second, it was a manufactured run on the bases. Dominic Erickson reached on an error, advanced to second on a walk. Erickson was trapped between second and third, and made the read to go to third as the catcher threw to second. On the back end of a strikeout, the Lakers executed a double steal that scored Erickson. Conrad followed with a grounder that hit first base and bounced away, allowing Zander Fitzsimmons, who reached on a walk, to score to make it a 3-0 game.
Milroy got on the board in the fifth. With Tyler Maeyaert on second base after a passed ball, Maeyaert was picked off second but made a successful dash to third. Mayeart scored with two outs on a Connor Lanoue grounder that was thrown away. But the Lakers got the run back as Drew Conrad stung a ball to deep left for a double and scored on a Riley Palmer single.
Milroy struck back in the sixth with two singles and a walk setting the stage for a bases loaded walk to Levi Maeyaert that scored a run. The Lakers avoided any more damage turning a 1-2-3 double play to end the inning.
In the Lakers half of the seventh, three singles loaded the bases for Fitzsimmons. With the infield in, a grounder could not be handled and was ruled an error allowing a run to score. Aiden Tobin singled to center to score another run. Drew Conrad followed with a grounder that was misplayed to score Erickson from third. Riley Palmer launched what ended up being a single to the warning track, but two runs did score on the play.
The teams traded runs in the seventh and eighth innings as the Lakers scored on a wild pitch in the seventh and the Irish scored a run as a throw to second base went awry allowing a run to score. But the Lakers scored a pair of runs in their half of the eighth to invoke the mercy rule.
