DRS Baseball: Faribault outslugs New Prague 16-11

The Orioles got on the board first, benefiting from two Lakers miscues. After a Beau Plaisance single to lead off the game, a late throw to second base on a sacrifice bunt and a dropped throw at second base on a force attempt loaded the bases. A Jake Mader infield single scored a run followed by a Hunter LeCuyer bloop single to right field that plated a pair.

In the bottom of the frame the Lakers got the runs back. Three of the first four batters walked before Jack Jandro launched a deep fly to center field that was dropped, allowing a run to score. Austin Rendler followed with an RBI single and Tucker Alstead wore one to tie the game and end the outing for Oriole starter Plaisance. Derek Aasen came in and retired the next two batters to get out of the inning tied at three.

After a quiet inning and a half, the Lakers took a two run lead as Tucker Alstead hit a two run home run with two outs in the third.

In the Orioles fourth, after a single and a walk to lead off the inning, Aasen singled in a run. Two batters later with the bases loaded, James Fuerniss hit a sacrifice fly to knot the game at five. Rev Tietz followed with a fly to center to put the Orioles back in front 6-5.

The lead would not last. With runners on the corner, Riley Palmer used Dad Power to crank a three run home run to give the lead back to the Lakers 8-6. After a Joe Grote double and a pitching change, a Rendler groundout plated the fourth Lakers run of the inning. Jandro advanced to third on the play and scored on a wild pitch.

As per course with this game, the Orioles came back in the fifth game. After two walks and a wild pitch with two outs, a fielding error and a Brody Isley got the Orioles back to within two runs at 10-8.

The Lakers kept the zipcode portion of the line score going with a two out two run single by Austin Rendler as the Lakers took a 12-8 lead. After five innings, both teams line scores were counties in Georgia.

Cam Prochaska got the Orioles to within two with a two run home run to right field in the sixth, but a walk, hit by pitch eventually plated a run for the Lakers. With two outs and the bases loaded, Jack Jandro had a two RBI single to give the Lakers a five run lead at 15-10.

A Palmer RBI in the last of the eighth added to the Lakers lead at 16-10. A Plaisance single in the ninth pulled the Orioles within five runs.

Jamie's Deliverymen of the game

1. Austin Rendler- Faribault. Rendler went two for five with four runs batted in.

2. Riley Palmer- Faribault. Palmer blocked out a rough day in the field by driving in four runs, three on the strength of a two run home run.

3. New Prague- I'm taking the easy way out here, but the Orioles scored 11 runs, but just didn't have the pitching to keep Faribault at bay.

Next for Faribault is the annual trip to River Falls on Saturday night for a game versus the Fighting Fish
