Faribault Lakers Baseball: St. Benedict defeats Lakers 6-1

The rough road in DRS Baseball continued on Friday night at Bell Field for the Faribault Lakers where they fell to the St. Benedict Saints 6-1

It was the Saints that got on the board first. Nolan Eischens singled, advanced to second on a wild pitch and scored on a Mitchell Martin single. 

In the third the Saints took advantage of two Lakers errors to score Martin who plate Martin who had singled again in his second at bat. The Lakers did get one back in third. A two out double by Drew Conrad was plated after an infield single by Aiden Tobin advanced Conrad to third and a fielder's choice scored Conrad. Joe Grote hit a hot smash that caused the fielder to fall. He attempted a force out at second but was unsuccessful.

Jeremy Heitkamp, Eischens and Joe Pesta all singled to load the bases in the top of the of the fourth. The Lakers attempted to pick off Heitkamp. The ball sailed into center field allowing two runs to score to stretch the lead to 4-1.

The Saints added a run in the sixth on an error and in the ninth on a Cody Pirkl pinch hit single to pull away.


Jamie's Deliverymen of the Game:

1. Mitchell Martin- St. Benedict. Martin reached all five times at the plate going 2-2 with three walks, two runs scored and a stolen base.

2. Nolan Eischens- St. Benedict. Eischens from the lead off spot went 2-5 with two runs scored

3. Alex Donkers- St. Benedict. Donkers gave the Saints five innings to get the win. Donkers gave up five hits in the first three innings but managed to only give up one run.
