Faribault Lakers Baseball: Mallards deal Lakers four pairs and a five in 13-3 loss

After the big extra inning victory in New Prague on Wednesday night, the Lakers once again were on the road in Montgomery. The road wasn't so kind as the Mallards get a pair of runs in four of the seven innings and five in the sixth to defeat the Lakers 13-3

Fariabult got on the board in the first inning as Jack Jandro and Aiden Tobin both singled. Jandro eventually scored on an Austin Rendler sacrifice fly.

The Mallards were not in any mood to play gracious hosts. Ryan Iverson and Johnny Krocak both homered to give the Mallards a 2-1 lead after an inning.

Two more runs were added on in the last of the second, both unearned. Nolan Readmond singled to drive in a run. That was followed by a grounder off the bat of Iverson that Faribault could not turn a double play on, allowing another run to score.

The Lakers got back to within one as two hit by pitches were driven in by a double by bat from Tucker Alstead.

Montgomery bumped it to a two run lead. Nick Worm singled, advanced to third on an Iverson double, and scored on a Lakers fielding error. Two batters later it was a Matt Smith bases loaded walk the made the score 6-3.

The roof caved in on the Lakers as a combination of errors and hits led to a five run inning. The big blow being a bases clearing double by Max Krautkremer.

The seventh inning saw Montgomery draw five walks in a row ending the game via the ten run mercy rule.

Jamie's Deliverymen of the game.

1. Ryan Iverson- Montgomery. Iverson tied the game in the first with home run, part of a 2-3 night at the plate with two walks, and four runs scored.

2. Johnny Krocak- Montgomery. Krocak homered right after Iverson and went 2-4 with a walk and two runs scored. He also pitched the last two innings not allowing a run on two hits and striking out three in a row after the Lakers were trying to get back in the game.

3. Aiden Tobin- Faribault. Tobin reached all four times at the plate going 3-3 with a double and a hit by pitch.

The road ahead:

The Lakers once again will be on the road as they try to avenge last Sunday's loss to Veseli as they travel to suburban Lons Vegas for the rematch at Veseli on Sunday at 2 pm.

Next Wednesday the Lakers travel to Dundas to take on the Dukes, 7:30 first pitch. Surely they will remember last year's game where the Dukes had to come back late to win.

Finally next Friday the Lakers are back home to take on America's team, the St. Benedict Saints, first pitch from Bell Field a little before 7:30
