Faribault Lakers Baseball: Long balls, Readmond CG carry Mallards to 5-1 win

If you didn't get to Bell Field for first pitch, you missed some scoring. First batter of the game, Pat Lloyd connected for a home run to left field, just missing the Advertising Monster in left field.

From there it was all zeros on the scoreboard until the top of the sixth. Cole Pint walked to lead off the inning. Pint scored on a Matt Smith double, with Smith being retired trying to advance to third base.

In the eighth inning, Lloyd reached on a walk and was brought home on a Ryan Iverson home run to make it a 4-0 lead for the Mallards.

Faribault got on the board in the eighth inning. Dylan O'Neil doubled to lead off the inning and scored two batters later on a Zander Fitzsimmons single, but the Lakers could not tack any more runs on.

The Mallard picked up an insurance run as Devin Whiteis pinch hitting, was hit by a pitch and scored three batters later on a single by Iverson, his third RBI in the last two innings.

Jamie's Deliverymen of the Game

1. Nolan Readmond- Montgomery. Readmond went the distance for the Mallards allowing a run on five hits, walking one and striking out five Lakers

2. Ryan Iverson- Montgomery. Iverson after not doing too much in his first three appearances at the plate let his presence be known with a two run home run in the eighth and an RBI single in the ninth.
